Finally…a binary news reader for linux

I have found a nntp news reader for linux, albiet it only does NZB files…but that is fine with me. (I dont have the time to sort headers anymore anyway)

nzbperl

It is called nzbperl and it is a command line tool for reading nzb files and downloading the files. It works GREAT! I cannot speak more highly of this thing, it is exactly what I was looking for. My RAM and CPU don’t even know it is running.

To get it up and running, simply download the pl script, the sample rc file for entering your specific configuration, and as always…make sure you meet the requirements! I am running Kubuntu Breezy Linux and I had to install a couple of perl modules (see the cpan website for how to do this if the automatic method on the nzbperl site does not work)

Ahhh…back to downloading bliss
