The Mainbrace

Well, I haven’t posted in a while…see I have a new job and it allows me to be home alot more. Now you would think that means that I have more time to work on my site, well it really means that I have more time to do all those things around the house that I havent gotten to yet (and are driving my wife insane).

So here we go. Fresh beginning. New site to go along with the new job. Featuring some image streams from my favorite site deviantart.com and random pics from my online photo collection as well as a obligatory list of what I have recently listened to according to Last.fm (formerly audioscrobbler).

What is a SUPER new feature on my TIVO is not that cool for website management.

Today with a single click deleted years of photos in my gallery. I had a single album in the gallery twice, so I wanted to remove the duplicate. Easy right? I selected the album I wanted to delete and clicked delete. The next screen showed a list of items apparently in that album and wanted me to check the boxes next to the items I wanted to delete! I toggled all of them and pressed delete.

HOLY COW! It was listing items under the main Gallery!

OK…after marking some 60 comments to this blog as SPAM (they never made into public view) I found that there were some 80 others that had made it around the default Wordpress comment posting rules.

Say “Hello” to the Bad Behaviour Plugin. This plugin is supposed to stop 99.99% of spam comments from making it to the site, I thought of posting what a typical spam comment looks like…but I deleted all of them and with this plugin I don’t expect to get more as examples (Hooray!)

Look at the bottom of the page and you will see a counter that keeps track of the last 7 days of spam hits to the Mainbrace…I am interested to see how it goes.

Updated site theme is online…still adding more features, so stay tuned.

I am now trying out a WP plugin that uses the Google maps API to map the comments in the post view! It maps the commentors IP location I assume, I am looking at the code now…actually I have test commented a couple of times and I dont see any pins in the map…I wonder if it actually works at all
